Building Access: The History and Future of Disability Rights

Celebrate Disability Pride Month at the Center for Brooklyn History with an engaging panel discussion on the history of the disability rights movement and the ongoing fight for equal access and inclusion.

Opening remarks will be delivered by New York City Mayor's Office for People with Disabilities Commissioner Nisha Agarwal, followed by a panel featuring Victor Calise, NYC Disability Historian Warren Shaw, Assembly Member Jo Anne Simon, Dr. Sharon Melisse McLennon-Wier, and moderator Dominique Jean-Louis.

This program is presented in conjunction with the Center for Brooklyn History exhibition People Making Power, highlighting Congressman Major Owens's role in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
