Exploring Disability Representation Through Film

June 30, 2026

Join Disability Belongs for a virtual fireside chat with filmmaker David Fortune, writer and director of Color Book.

Color Book, which premiered on Netflix on June 19th, follows a widowed father and his son with Down syndrome as they navigate grief, resilience, and connection during a daylong journey to attend their first baseball game together. During this conversation, David will discuss the inspiration behind the film, the importance of meaningful representation, and what changes are needed to ensure disabled people have opportunities to shape stories both on screen and behind the scenes.

The event will conclude with David answering questions submitted by the audience in advance. If you have a question for David, please send it to Media@DisabilityBelongs.org by noon on Friday, June 26th.

Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) captioning and American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation will be provided.
