The New York Islanders have selected Pal-O-Mine Equestrian to participate in the team’s Hockey with a Heart initiative, a reflection of the Islanders commitment to working with and promoting causes close to the hearts of their fans, the Islandia-based nonprofit announced.

Several dozen staff members, family and friends of Pal-O-Mine attended the Dec. 9 Islanders game where they sold raffle tickets with a portion donated by the Islanders to support Pal-O-Mine’s mission to provide a comprehensive therapeutic equine program using horses to facilitate growth, learning and healing for children and adults with disabilities, veterans and the military, first responders, survivors of trauma and abuse and many others.

“It was thrilling to meet Islanders fans and tell them about our mission, plus we were able to have our photo taken on the ice after the incredibly exciting win,” Lisa A. Gatti, Founder and CEO of Pal-O-Mine, said in a statement. Pal-O-Mine is located on 13 acres in Islandia and is home to 25 specially trained horses, other farm animals, and a therapeutic horticulture program that serves as a vocational internship site for people with disabilities.

“We are extremely grateful to the Islanders for selecting us as one of their Hockey with a Heart partners. Their support makes a direct impact on the people we are privileged to serve, and we’re proud to stand alongside a team that cares so deeply about making a difference — both on and off the ice,” Gatti said.

In addition to benefiting from the night’s 50/50 raffle, Pal-O-Mine received $5 for every ticket that fans purchased through Pal-O-Mine’s special link. To learn more about Pal-O-Mine’s programs, visit www.pal-o-mine.org.
