The Suffolk County Legislature celebrated “Champions of Diversity Month” with special presentations at the April 21st General Meeting of the Suffolk County Legislature in Hauppauge.

The designation started in 2023 as a result of a bipartisan resolution the prior year. Each legislator selected an honoree from their own district to be honored at the meeting.

“This year’s annual recognitions are again a tribute to innovative ideas, creative solutions, and the opportunity for diverse achievers to have their contributions to Suffolk County and its communities be respected and supported by the Legislature and our fellow residents,” said Presiding Officer Anthony A. Piccirillo said in a statement.

“I was delighted to recognize Deirdra Postupack, a dedicated Physical Therapist who advocates for children with special needs, helping them gain the support and services necessary to live productive and meaningful lives. She is passionate about supporting each child’s physical development while also fostering understanding, inclusion, and acceptance within their families, schools, and communities,” Piccirillo said.
